Abi Evans is a Creative Director based in Los Angeles, California.
I've worked in the fashion and beauty industry for over 10 years and in early 2022 decided to start my own apparel brand.
Thus, Cosmic Cherry was born. And listen, i’ve had a blast. Owning a brand is so cool, but led me to realize that my favorite part wasn’t making a product, but creating a world or story for those products to live in.
Take that + 10 years of experience being on set for television, film, commercial, editorial, and beauty work, for companies like Laffy Taffy, Sweetarts, Dragun Beauty, White Fox Boutique and for celebrities like Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, and Anna Sawai, it kind of feels like my whole career has led me up to this moment.
I have so much experience working with different teams and wearing different hats, (at one point I was the head of both the hair/makeup and the wardrobe department for a reality tv show), that I know the essentials of what needs to get done and who to call to do it. (I’m a capricorn okay?)
Then enters my driving force, the creative side!
Ever since I was young I've spent various periods of time obsessing over different decades.
When I say my favorite music is oldies I really mean it. It has always helped me feel grounded and connected to myself.
Frank Sinatra and Frankie Valli remind me of fall drives with my grandma. Alice Cooper and Supertramp are getting dropped off at school by my dad. The Beatles remind me of long days watching the clock at cosmetology school.
Anything 1950s reminds me of every weekend from ages 11-13 spent with with my best friend having sleepovers and watching grease (still a comfort movie even though I can't believe we believed they were supposed to be in high school).
The 80s films and music truly make me feel homesick. I remember asking my mom once if she thought if in heaven we would get to experience different decades aesthetics… she said she didn't know and I promptly burst into tears. I was 24. HAHA. But the thought of not being able to spend my weekends walking around with a perm, dressed like madonna, dancing to "take on me" was truly too much to process. So I quickly planned my 25th birthday party at a dive bar with an 80s cover band and made everyone dress accordingly. It was a dream!
Then theres the vintage ad's !!!! I am all about the design. The colors. The fonts. I could spend hours on Pinterest looking solely at vintage cake recipes.
I have spent so many hours of my life hyperfixating on different decades just to make it my entire personality for a few months. So why wouldn't that be a part of my career?
I’ve taken to the internet to express that passion of mine (Check out my Tik Tok for a smattering of short vintage films) and this year I’ve decided to start sharing this passion of mine with others!
SO,
